What size of lampshade should I choose?
Traditionally the advice was, your shade should be 2/3 the height of your base and should be twice the width of the base but as styles and tastes change this ratio is a little simple.
I advise cutting out a large piece of paper or card and placing it above your lamp base and you will know if you like the look of the proportions. You can experiment with different looks by cutting down the paper or card and deciding what you like.
Shades can also be embellished with braids, trims or fringing (click here on embellishments page for more info)
