I make silk pendant shades in lots of styles, shapes, sizes and designs.

What fitting for my lampshade should I choose?

If your wall light has a fitting that your shade sits onto, the utility fitting will need to be at the bottom.

If the wall light is hanging, the fitting will need to be at the top.

You can order a shade with a duplex fitting that can be used on either type. Check the Fittings section for more information.

Please measure the space between the wall and the lamp holder as this will determine the maximum diameter of wall shade you can order.

Pendant shades are normally white inside but you can choose different materials for inside your shade, for example metallics, neons, patterned fabrics etc.

What different inside linings are available?

My standard lining on a firm shade is white uPVC which is specially manufactured for lampshade making but you can also choose metallic inner linings, coloured insides, double-sided or clear.

Metallic inside for a pendant shade

Bespoke shade- “Ardara Distillery” 1m diameter shade with metallic copper inside.

Metallic shade insides are available in copper, gold and silver.

Standard white inside

“Dusky Hedgerow” silk tapered ceiling shade with standard white uPVC inside.

Transparent inside of a pendant shade

“Anemone” silk cone duplex shades with inside of shade made using clear uPVC.

Double sided shade

“Lockdown garden” 45cm drum silk ceiling shade with double sided lining.

I have used an old scarf to line the inside of this shade as a contrast to my silk painting.

“Into the garden” 45cmdrum silk ceiling shade with double sided geometric silk lining.

Coloured inside shade

Pink lined lampshade “Heron” 45cm drum silk ceiling shade with pink lining.

The lining is available in various colours.

Drum pendant shade

This is a standard shape for a ceiling pendant and I can make them up to a whopping 1m in diameter.

This style of shade is available in standard utility or duplex fitting and in many different designs and in various sizes.

Utility

Utility frames can be used with lampshade rings to make any style of lampshade, any size, for pendants or table lamps.

They connect with any Irish, UK (B22) or European (E27) lamp holders or pendant holders.

Duplex

Lampshades manufactured with duplex fittings are regarded as top quality products for the high end of the market.

They are used with shade carriers to connect to the lamp holder to the lampshade and control the height between.They can also be used with a spider fitting to be used as a pendant shade

Spider

Lampshade spider will adapt a lampshade with a Duplex ring to a pendant fitting.
The spider will then fit onto any British (BC) or (E27) European lamp holder fittings.

Cone pendant shade

This is a lovely shape for a ceiling pendant, much wider at the bottom then the top so letting lots of light into the room but more streamlined than a traditional drum ceiling pendant.

This style of shade is available in standard utility or duplex fitting and in many different designs and in various sizes.

They connect with any Irish, UK (B22) or European (E27) lamp holders or pendant holders.

Harp fitting

This is the most common fitting for lamps made in the USA. It is suitable for making all types of circular or cone/tapered rigid lampshades that will fit lamps that use a harp or vertical rod system to hold the shade.

I can make some style of shades which fit a 1/2 inch washer or I can provide an adaptor which will convert a E27 or B22 lamp holder to hold a harp finial.
