Join me in my County Donegal studio for a memorable experience where you will be able to learn the skill of silk painting. I provide one to one tuition suitable for all levels of ability and experience, where you will be able to make something very special and unique.
I will be taking bookings for the first Saturday of the month from March 2027 to September 2027.
You can book a half day, a full day or consecutive Saturdays if you would like to work on a long project.
Below is an idea of what you can make in a half or full day session.

Introduction to silk painting
Suitable for all from 12yrs
HALF DAY
This introduction will give you an opportunity to try your hand at silk painting using a resist technique. You will be able to use design templates if you wish or choose to paint your own design.
At the end of the workshop you will have produced a small silk painting which will be mounted for you to take home.

FULL DAY
Suitable for all from 12yrs
This requires a full day workshop where you can learn the skill of serti silk painting and produce a medium sized silk painting which will be made into a piece of wall art or medium sized lampshade.
The lampshades will be made for you after the workshop and you can collect from the studio or have them delivered to you.
All materials and home cooked lunch are provided.

Suitable for all from 18 yrs
Gives you an opportunity to paint larger pieces of silk which can be used to make scarves, lampshades or wall art.
This is the course if you want to experiment with different silk painting techniques and take more time over the process of designing your piece.
All materials and home cooked lunch are provided.

Silk circles
HALF DAY
Suitable for beginners from 12 yrs
Learn to silk paint on silk hangers. You can draw your own design templates or select from several art deco inspired designs provided. During the workshop you will draw out your resist outline and using various silk painting techniques to paint the silk.
All materials will be provided.

Silk Lanterns
HALF DAY
Suitable for beginners from 12 yrs
Learn to silk paint and make a super cute battery operated tealight holder. You can draw your own design templates or select from several art deco inspired designs provided. During the workshop you will draw out your resist outline and using various silk painting techniques to paint the silk. You will also learn how to construct the lantern which is similar to making a mini lampshade.
All materials will be provided.

Silk Landscapes
SELECT HALF or FULL DAY
Suitable for those who have some experience of landscape painting (in any medium) or silk painting
Let your landscapes spring into life on silk. Try your hand at recreating your own sketches and photographs using a variety of silk painting techniques.
All materials will be provided but please bring along your own primary resource material.

School and youth groups
I have extensive experience of working with children and young people in a variety of settings from youth groups, after school settings and schools.
I am on the panel for the Blast programme, have taken part in Teacher-Artist partnership (TAP) , Peace Plus ( and prior Peace IV), Creating Connections, Creative Clusters and Creative Schools. I was on the Education Panel for the DCCoI for many years and took part in CRAFTed and DesignSKILLS projects throughout Donegal.
